The playlist for today is
December 16, 2007 - 1 PM to 7 PM
Solvent - Apples & Synthesizers
Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick (bonus: the Black Star cover of the tune)
Numbers: Death
Billy Bragg - Brewing Up With Billy Bragg
The Clientele - God Save The Clientele
B. Fleischmann - The Humbucking Coil
Roisin Murphy - Overpowered
The Hallelujah Chicken Run Band - Take One
(That last clip isn't actually of the band, but their drummer/singer Thomas Mapfumo went on to be a superstar in Zimbabwe, and so the clip is of him.)
Tigercity were surprisingly good, the place was very small and packed, so there was a great deal of heat and humidity (it felt like summer in, say, Bangkok, or Houston, or Miami - you get the picture). They got the crowd to actually move around to a certain extent, which is remarkable for San Francisco (where nobody dances) and for it being so warm/humid. At that point we had been to the gallery opening part of the evening, gone to the hostel for karaoke (where I did "Material Girl" and "Because I Got High") and come back, so none of us were exactly sober, but I wasn't hung over the following day, so I couldn't have had that much.
On a different, but still music-related note - have you ever walked into a store in December and left before buying what you came to get because you couldn't stand the Christmas music? I still need to pick up some laundry soap cos that happened to me the other day...
